Youth gardeningSponsoring children to go to school

GEFA's primary objective is matching needy children with sponsors who are willing to pay for their yearly school expenses. Some sponsored students also receive tutoring. The neediest children and their families are identified with the help of compassionate teachers and community members.

Feeding children and families

Included in each child's school sponsorship is a daily hot lunch, for some, their only dependable meal. GEFA also reaches out to
feed those who are starving by providing large bags of staples, such as maize and beans.

Housing for students

At the GEFA residence, we house a few high school boys whose families live far from the schools. We provide these youths with room and board, personal needs and bicycle transportation.

Training in study skills and life skills

We are
conducting seminars in conjunction with schools in the area.  The topics focus on study skills and life skills. We provide tutorial sessions, with Andrew, a capable tutor, overseeing tutoring for the resident students.

Sponsored families give back to the community

Parents and guardians of sponsored secondary students (whose tuition is about triple that of primary students) now put in time working in GEFA's garden, which provides food to AIDS patients and starving families. This brings us all together as an extended family working together for their advancement.

Future medical clinic

We hope to have a small medical clinic, provided a grant to fund it. We have a willing nurse to assist us, the room to house such a clinic, and the garden to raise the necessary food for AIDS victims. We only lack funds for medical supplies, medications, and operation and hospital costs.
